February Is Here with Wishes!

Here we are month two of 2014 and our wish list is bubbling over with requests.

As you know LACES' teachers and staff have needs.  Most of them are small but those needs that are greater can be solved by several of us coming together to help.

Please look at the following requests.  If you could please step up and help, everyone including your child or your child's friends will be grateful.

Things are cookin' in Ms Phillips Class

Ms Phillips Cooking class

Do you have empty, clean spaghetti jars, salsa jars or mason jars with caps?
She needs them for a project in spring.
She needs two hundred and fifty jars so please ask your neighbors & friends!

Anyone have a resource for inexpensive yeast?
Anyone have a resource for inexpensive soy paper?

Ms. Phillips has got great projects for the students.  Let’s help her.
Also if you can donate to her cooking fund please. $10, $15, $20 every little bit helps.
Check made out to FOL with “Foods” in notation line of check.

Please email Maggie_Owen@sbcglobal.net  for any information

Sticky stuff

The front office is almost out of Magic Scotch Tape Refill rolls (Not with dispenser).

We also need glue sticks.  Lots of them.

If you don't have time to go to Staples or Office Depot---please consider ordering online and have it shipped to school.

Ship it to:
LACES
Front Office
5931 W. 18th Street
Los Angeles CA 90035
323 549-5900

Achoo! Again.

The front office is low on boxes of tissues.  The bugs are out and the sneezes are great.    It probably doesn’t help that our weather has been so weird.  The bottom line is we need boxes of tissues.   When you are out at Costco, Ralphs, Food for Less, or any drug store….Can you please pick up boxes of tissues?  Get several of them and send them to  school.

Your kids will thank you next time someone sneezes next to him/her and it is in a tissue and not the air.

V is for Violin

Dr. Monarch would benefit if we could retire one of the seriously-in-need of retiring violins.   We would like to replace one of the really tired ones with a new violin.

One violin is $300.  If we could have 30 people donate $10 each we would have a brand new violin.   Or 10 people donate $30.   Six people donate $50.. you get the drift.

If your child is musically inclined you know the value of music in a school.  And even if your child  is not musically inclined (raising hand)  you still know the value of a strong music program in a school.   Dr. Monarch is working magic with such little funding. Please help him help our school.

You can put your donation in an envelope marked  Violin Fund which you put in the FOL box.
If you need to write a check, please make it out to FOL. In the memo line put Violin Fund.

Happy New Year & New Semester

Welcome back, Parents!

After what seems like the world's longest break (three weeks is murder, right?) we are back to school. Hurray.

Thanks to all of you who have stepped up to make the LACESWishlist a success.   Teachers and staff have been very grateful by your help.  It is very inspiring for a staff or faculty to have a need, see it posted and then the thrill of receiving the request arrive at school!   And of course when we help our teachers we are helping our kids.

We anticipate more needs in 2014.   Please do what you can to continue the success of the LACESWishList.

If you have not had a chance to bring in your white or colored paper for the front office, please consider doing so.

If you have tight schedule you may want to go online and order a case and have them deliver it (in many cases Free Shipping)   Go to STAPLES or OFFICE DEPOT

Ship it to:
LACES
Front Office
5931 W. 18th Street
Los Angeles CA 90035
323 549-5900

Thank you and have a great 2014!
