LACES Library : Mr. Frankel our new librarian needs your help!

New Update (5/21):   A parent has stepped up is taking care of the final amount for Mr. Frankel's library.   Thank you so much for helping our wonderful librarian do what he can do to expand the love of reading.       Thank you! 



LACES parents did you know we have a librarian?   We are very happy and proud to announce that this last fall Mr. Frankel joined our staff.  It has been several years (due to district cuts) that we have been without a librarian.  And many schools are still flying without one for what it is worth.

Mr. Frankel has been going through the stacks and organizing the shelves, getting rid of obsolete material and brainstorming new titles that will rock our students' world.

We were able to collect $215 but still need $285 in order for Mr. Frankel to get the additional books.


Whatever you can do will be appreciated by Mr. Frankel and our LACES students.

Special shout out to you book lovers.  You know many of you are starting to salivate for your Summer Reading Selection.    When did that love of books start?  No doubt it began when you were in school.  Help future book lovers learn to love reading by supporting our kind librarian Mr. Frankel.

Resource Center: Ear Muffs

New Update (5/21):  I am happy to announce that two families have stepped up and covered the cost of Mr. Solomon's request for earmuffs.  Thank you families for taking care of this most tender of requests.

Mr. Solomon our LACES resource teacher provides whatever support a student needs.  It is differentiated for each student and can range from more time to complete assignments or assistance in reading, writing and math.   He provides additional lessons to support the instruction in the other classes.    He needs optime earmuffs to help block distractions when students come to the Resource center to take tests.

Each earmuff is $25 and he needs five.

Can you cover the cost of a set of earmuffs?  How about a couple of them?

Mr. Solomon will be grateful by whatever you can contribute to his earmuff fund.

French Department: Colored Pencils

Ms Sampah Stewart teaches French.  Her students generate classroom projects that rely on colored pencils.    She needs one set of pencils that costs $58.

College Center : Desktop Computer

This wish has been completed!  Thank you so much parents!!! 






Ms Henry works like a dog to get our LACES students into the college of their choice. It takes a lot of hand holding, strategizing and computer time!!!
Currently,  we have very tired, unreliable and sorry computers.   Our students are on them all the time as they research their goals for their college future.    

We are trying to replace the computers.

We have collected $425 so far and need another $325.

Can you cover the rest of the fund?
Can you contribute anything?

And a special shout out to our senior parents, if you are eternally grateful for the work Ms Henry did to help your child reach his or her goals would you consider contributing to this fund for the future LACES college bound students?    Ms Henry will be so grateful.

English Department: CD Player

New Update:  CD player is on its way to Ms Sandberg from parent.  Thank you!


Do you have a gently used CD player that you can donate to Ms. Sandberg's class?
Can you purchase one?

She has been borrowing a CD player but really deserves her own,

When books are set in a specific era Ms. Sandberg likes to play music of that time.   Additionally, she plays CDs of authors and or professionals reading their books.

If any of you are familiar with Zora Neal Hurston than you know her writings are filled with rich dialect from another era.    This year, Ms Sandberg could see the students were struggling with the material as they read the book outloud.   However, once she played a CD and could hear the words it made more sense and then they could continue and get the full flavor of the story.

ENGLISH DEPT : Markers & Pencils

New Update (5/21) A family has stepped up and offered to cover Ms. Sandberg's pens. Thank you so much for helping our students work on their editing skills.  What do we know?  Writing is re-writing. Thank you!

Eventhough we are in the 21st Century there are times when a student just needs a color pencil or marker to make their point.  Especially in English Class.   Ms Sandberg needs one set of Crayola Markers  cost is $55. 

Ms Sandberg also needs one set of colored pencils $58.   

Her 8th & 9th grade students will use them for projects and for peer editing.  

Is there anything more tender than markers and color pencils?
